X-1 Grand SLAMM

The X-1 Grand SLAMM was introduced as a "real-world" flagship loudspeaker. While the WAMM would remain in production for another decade, the increasing cost of manufacture made it a truly Olympian product to own; it still required Dave Wilson in person to set it up, and its fundamental design was a decade old. The X-1, in contrast, cost much less to build, could be set up by any trained Wilson Audio dealer, and benefited from a newly developed cabinet material (called X-material), which combined unprecedented characteristics of both rigidity and dampening. It achieved much of the performance of the WAMM in a more affordable and practical package.
